Beautiful Rainbow Beach

Spent Thursday and Friday up at Rainbow beach just north of Noosa. The Aborigonal gave it this name due to the different colored sands. I stayed at a local pilots house and flew on the coast for hours every day. It is a huge ridge and the conditions were excellent. Here are some pics and as suggested there is even a picture of me so you know I'm not just taking these pics off the internet.

Tomorrow I continue the next half of my trip down on the Gold coast where I will meet up with friends and try some thermal flying at Mt Tamborine and Beechmont. I hear the Gold coast is like Miami so I'm curious if I will dig it. Byron bay is supposed to be nice and I look forward to my travels down south.

Off Today to take my Uncle Tandem flying at Point Cartwright and the conditions look as good as yesterday when I flew for 3 hours. Hope y'all are doin well

First week in Oz

Well its been a week and having fun allready. After having Landed in Brisbane I decide to skip the connecting flight to Sydney for a more relaxing entry. I find that no rental cars are available due to a school holiday, cool no problem, I'll catch a bus up north to my Uncle Toms' area and enjoy some of the Sunshine coast. Not quite the plan but I really didnt have much of one and vacations should be relaxed right?

Its been a week up in Buderim just off the coast. The coastal town here is called Mooloolaba with a large bay, and by the looks of it would be some great kitesurfing. My cousin Victor gave me a good surf lesson and showed me some good skateboarding moves in the backyard(Dogtown & Z boys style). Uncle Tom's house is very cool and has a great view of the coast. The food has been wonderful, the climate mild and reliable, and the country/coastline is beautiful.

Today I had my first paragliding flight so far and was in the beautiful Blackall range. Maleny is a town not too far away and is the start of the Hinterland. Denis was a kind guide pilot showing me the site and getting my visiting paperwoork in order. I am now a temp member of the Canondale Paragliding Club and ready to fly some more sites in the surrounding area. They fly some big xc flights from Maleny and have some great views of the Glass House mountains.

Before I ramble on forever here are some pics from my trip so far............

Blogging begins

Hello all and welcome to my blog. As I prepare to leave for Australia my blog will be a great way for me to stay connected with you all. I leave tomorrow and now the excitement is beginning to set in. Not exactly looking forward to the super long/planet destroying flight but my Christopher Columbus boat did not make it from ebay in time.

The last few days in Salt Lake City have been wonderful and make me wonder why I would travel so far when things right here are so wonderful. The past two nights paragliding at the point of the mountain have been so amazing! Super good conditions, friends, and great views of the Wasatch and the big sprawl that is the Salt lake valley. Had some great beer(hop rising) at Squatter's brewpub downtown with a long lost friend from Telluride.

Off to fly again at the point tonight. I am taking a good friend tandem and look forward to another long relaxing flight. Well thanks again for checking this out and hope to post some wonderful paragliding shots as well as cultural photos from wherever I might be. You can also skype me at skyhighryguy if you would like to get in touch.

Here are some photos and history of flying at The Point Of The Mountain, Draper Utah.
